What Did You Say?

Psalm 19:14 “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.”

How many of you remember the old Batman TV series? I have no idea what made me think of this, but remember how the bubble words of WOW, POW and other expressions of actions popped up during Batman and Robin’s encounters with evil? The words that would flash up on the TV screen seemed to enhance the action. Those words had power! The viewer could almost feel the blows.

I believe most of us have been around long enough to know by now that words are powerful. Words can hurt or bring healing. Words can build up or tear down. Words can bring a smile or a tear. The Word of God states that death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21).

This devotional is about what we say concerning OURSELVES.

I can’t…it never works out…it is impossible…I am just made this way…there is no hope…I am so stressed out…if it is going to happen to someone, it will be me…and the list goes on and on.

What would happen if we made a determination to only declare what God’s Word declares?

[if !supportLists]1.      [endif]I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. (Philippians 4:13)

[if !supportLists]2.      [endif]But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)

[if !supportLists]3.      [endif]…. My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. (2 Corinthians 12:9)

[if !supportLists]4.      [endif]That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge; (1 Corinthians 1:5)

[if !supportLists]5.      [endif]No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. (Isaiah 54:17)

[if !supportLists]6.      [endif]For the Lord God will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed. (Isaiah 50:7)

Since life and death are in the power of the tongue, I pray that we will start to speak life. This goes beyond positive thinking. This is declaring by faith that God is your strength, God will meet your needs, God is your protection, God is your help, God is faithful, God is your strong tower, God is your rock, and God is your guide.

Jude 1:20 “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith.”

Dear Heavenly Father, just as Your Son, Jesus Christ, overcame the works of the enemy by declaring the Word of God, I pray for a godly determination to stir our hearts. I pray that Your Word may have free course in our lives and that Your name will be glorified (2 Thessalonians 3:1-2) May our words be a confirmation of Your Word. Help all of us, dear Lord, to see ourselves through Your eyes. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
