Turn the volume up!

Did you know that customers can get loud? Well, if you did not know that you should attend a grand opening of a Hobby Lobby. The customers get excited. They stand in the front calling friends and family on cell phones, telling them they need to get to Hobby Lobby. Customers waiting to tell the Manager and District Manager, how thrilled they are that Hobby Lobby is open. In fact, during the Bluffton SC opening, we were shocked to hear customers saying they have never been in a Hobby Lobby before. And of course, they were overwhelmed with everything!

It is exciting and again, loud. It was not until a customer commented on the wonderful selection of music being played that we realized we could not really hear the music.   Well wanting to be helpful, I suggested that management ask the customers to keep it down. But for some reason, they thought just turning up the volume a little would be a better way to handle it. Oh well, I tried. So the volume was adjusted, and in the midst of all the excitement and activities of the day, the music is heard.

I wish I could be clever with words right now, but let me just get to the heart of this devotional. Many of you, like Moses in Exodus 15, know what it is to say “…I will sing unto the Lord, for he hath triumphed gloriously: … The Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, …. (vs 1-2) Many of you know what it is to have your “…mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing;…  Why? Because “…The Lord hath done great things for them….” (Psalms 126:2-3)

For so many of us, God has put a song in our hearts. When there seemed to be no hope, He became our hope. When there seemed to be no peace, there He was! He has been our Way Maker, our Guide, our Deliver, and our Provider. He is our Song in the night!

I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. (Psa. 40:1-3)

This week, I pray nothing will stop your song from being heard. Don’t allow circumstances to drown out the song of victory. Turn up the volume, in the middle of your world, let the song of victory be heard!

If you don’t have a song in your heart, a song of praise to God, you can! Right now. God, through His son Jesus Christ, desires to be your song of victory. God loves you, no matter who you are and what you have done. The word of God declares, “…whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16 NIV) “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.(Rom. 10:13)For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is a gift of God, not of works, so no one can boast.” (Eph. 2:8-9)…. Now that is something to sing about!
