Joy equals Strength!

Nehemiah 8:10 “…the joy of the Lord is your strength.” So if that is true (which I do believe it is), then not having joy is weakness. I am not talking about happiness. Happiness has much to do with circumstances. I am talking about a joy deep inside that remains in our hearts regardless of what circumstances may come our way.

John 10:10 “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

The thief in this verse refers to the enemy of our souls. What is he trying to steal? For one thing, JOY! If he can steal joy, he steals strength.  I don’t know about you, but I don’t like people stealing from me.

The enemy tries to steal joy with unforgiveness and anger in our hearts. I don’t think I need to explain unforgiveness and anger to anyone. We have all probably experienced them in some form. But I do need to remind all of us that they can rob us of God’s abundant life and the joy of the Lord.

I pray this week that we will all examine our hearts and not allow any unforgiveness or anger to eat at us. Doesn’t that sound professional? “Eat at us.” Well that is how it feels; it affects our sleep, our eating, our moods, our speech, etc. So by the help and grace of God, release what needs to be released this week, and may we start to live that abundant life that the Word of God talks about.

Philippians 4:7-8 “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
