Don’t give up!

There is a short fable attributed to Aesop called “The Fox and the Grapes”. The fable basically states that the fox sees grapes hanging high up on a vine. Desiring to taste of the grapes, he attempts to grab them. Picture it…the grapes are just within reach, but the fox cannot touch them. He jumps and stretches, but he just can’t reach them. The fox stops trying and remarks, “The grapes are sour anyway!”

Deuteronomy 1:8 “Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them.”

The fox missed out on the grapes because he gave up. May I encourage you this week not to give up? Do not allow struggles and challenges in life to keep you from serving and following God. How desperate are you for the things of God?

Matthew 7:7 “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:” KEEP ASKING! KEEP SEEKING! KEEP KNOCKING!

Hebrews 12:1-2 “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

LISTEN! Can you hear them (the cloud of witnesses) cheering us on? Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Elijah, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John hanging over the portals of heaven, encouraging us to keep running the race—“Don’t give up, you can make it!” And right in the mist of the crowd of witnesses, at the right hand of the heavenly Father is Jesus (Ephesians 1:20). His hands are extended to you saying, “Come unto me…and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

Dear Heavenly Father, I pray a spirit of boldness and determination will arise in each of us. I pray each challenge we face and are facing will be used as an opportunity for Your power and glory to be revealed. I pray spiritual eyes and ears will be open to the fact that we are not alone. You will never leave us or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5), and you will cause us to triumph (2 Corinthians 2:14). I pray Father for those who might feel like giving up. I ask that You will encourage and strengthen them as only You can, in Jesus’ name I pray, AMEN!

You can make it, in Jesus’ name!
