Beyond Customer Service!

Over the holidays, many of us experience traveling to visit family and friends while others prepare to have family and friends come visit them. I know when I have family come to visit us, I work diligently to have everything just right. In advance I made sure food is purchased and prepared, sleeping arrangements are made, and activities are planned. I tried to think of every possible need my guests might have and made sure I accommodate them.

Isn’t that what we try to do with our customers? Isn’t that what we try to do for each other? One comment I hear often from those out in the field is how accommodating the Hobby Lobby Corporate staff is. I get to hear how quickly issues are handled. I hear those who have not had the opportunity yet to visit OKC express how friendly and helpful everyone is and how they feel like they know this one or that one just by phone conversations.

Isn’t that what customer service is all about? I recently was reading in Romans 12. Look at this:

Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

Conformed means doing something the way others do it. This company is different. Others may offer customer service…but we offer hospitality!

Romans 12:3, 8-11 not to think of himself more highly than he ought to thinkhe that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness; let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good; be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; not slothful in business…serving the Lord.”

How blessed are we to work for a company that is given to hospitality! (Romans 12:13)

Dear Heavenly Father, today we say thank You for Your many blessing, and with the apostle Paul we proclaim by the mercies of God, we present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto you, which is our reasonable service. (Romans 12:1)
